    Like its parent company, Paypal, Venmo will be supporting popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash. The company estimates a reach of over 70 million customers who will be given access to buy and sell cryptocurrencies.

    Venmo operates similarly to social networks, with options for users to share crypto transactions on their feed which might potentially make crypto more accessible and less daunting to newer audiences.

    3. Bitcoin.com unveils luxury limited edition Franck Muller Bitcoin Cash Watch



    The Bitcoin Cash Wristwatch was crafted by Swiss Luxury watchmaker Franck Muller in partnership with Bitcoin.com. The watch is a new titanium timepiece that doubles as a wallet for the digital cash. It is named “Free the Money. Free the World,” and the co-founder of Bitcoin.com, Mate Tokay, helped design the new wristwatch and believes that exquisitely complicated watches combined with innovative technology like Bitcoin Cash (BCH).



    4. Will Amazon start accepting Dogecoin as Payment?



    A petition on Change.org reached over 140k signatures requesting Amazon to accept Dogecoin as a payment method. Dogecoin started as a joke but has since surged to enter the top ten cryptocurrency. With over 4200% Year-To-Date gains, Dogecoin’s performance so far has made many question the fundamentals.

    5. Hollywood stars will get NFTs at upcoming Academy Awards Ceremony



    Hollywood stars will receive non-fungible tokens at the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony. 25 celebrities out of 115 nominees for this year’s Academy Awards will receive three NFTs each, in the form of unofficial gift bags.

    These will include nominees from the best actor, best actress, best supporting actor, best supporting actress and best director categories.

    6. Grayscale acquires nearly $1 billion crypto in 24 hours



    The largest digital asset manager in the world, revealed through a tweet that its total assets under management is at $45.8 billion, compared to a day before which was $44.9 billion. This included increases to its Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) and Grayscale Ethereum Trust (ETHE) of $283.3 million and $586.5 million respectively.

    Apart from Bitcoin and Ethereum, the company also added other altcoins.

    7. Bitcoin Dominance Slips below 50% – first since 2018



    Bitcoin has since regained this loss and its market dominance stands at 51% at the time of writing. Despite surpassing it’s All Time High of US$64.8K just earlier this April 2021, the Bitcoin rally has stalled recently, with the price retreating back to US$49K.

    Many analysts speculate that this is a signal that the “market is risk-on” and that Altcoins are outperforming.

    8. Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Funds raised 29.4 million



    In just 2 weeks, Morgan Stanley’s new Bitcoin-only private funds managed to draw in $29.4 million from 322 investors. The early returns for the FS NYDIG Select Bitcoin Fund LP funds indicate the investors interest in accessing bitcoin products.

    Investors who want to invest in bitcoin via fund through Morgan Stanley are limited to betting 2.5% of their total net worth, must qualify by having at least $2 million in net worth and must pay a placement fee.

    9. WeWork will start accepting payment in crypto



    The leading office sharing provider, WeWork also shared their intention to hold the asset on its balance sheet. The cryptos they will accept include Bitcoin, Ethereum, USD Coin and several others which will be available to be used for their offerings like memberships.

    10. Sh💩tcoins are thriving as crypto market remains volatile



    Shitcoins are being expelled from various holes of the internet.

    Memecoins like Asscoin or Elongate are emerging on social media and are getting sufficient traction. The latest trend is Australian Safe Shepher (ASS) coin which was started and is centered around its risque Canadian developer. The coin has generated over 10K followers on its Telegram chat group. While such tokens are meant to offer laughs and not to be taken seriously, another memecoin Elongate has a more admirable goal.

    The Elongate project says it has donated over US$1 million to charity which was accumulated from the 10% fee collected from the crypto transactions.
