What is AXS?
AXS (aka Axie Infinity Shards), is the governance token of the Axie Infinity ecosystem.
These are used to participate in key governance votes and allows holders to have a say in how funds in the Axie Community Treasury are spent. AXS Holders will soon be able to stake their tokens to receive regular rewards in exchange for users to play and vote.

What is Axie Infinity?
Axie Infinity is a blockchain-based game that was created in 2018 by Vietnam based game developer Sky Mavis and was co-founded by Trung Nguyen and Aleksander Larsen.

Axie Infinity allows players to collect, breed, raise, battle and trade token-based creatures known as Axies. Each Axie is a non-fungible token (NFT) with different attributes and strengths. They can be entered into battles where the winning team will earn experience (exp) points that help to level up an Axie's stats or evolve the creature. These Axies can be used to breed unique offspring and eventually sold on the Axie marketplace.

What makes Axie Infinity different?
Unlike other blockchain-based battling and breeding games, an Axie can only be bred seven times in order to help control the population of Axies.
The ecosystem has its own mating hub to help players find a suitable match when breeding their Axie, costing around 0.005 ETH on top of the other native gaming token Small Love Potion (SLP).
As Axies possess six out of the hundreds of potential body parts, the game has an endless variety of Axies with different combinations and statistics.
